Intentionally Building Belonging through deepening the understanding of the why’s and how’s of child care providers in Kansas.

It is our continued mission to provide quality care you can trust.  Part of the process of trust and accountability as a child care center in the State of Kansas is our continued partnerships with KDHE (State licensing agency), CACFP (Federal food program agency), and DCF (children and family services agency).  Each one of these entities has a direct role with child care centers in the state of Kansas to provide quality care through various ways.  These entities are in place to ensure that quality care is given and hold accountable child care providers to those standards and regulations.  As a center, we have regulations to adhere to that include but are not limited to polices and procedures on how we feed children, diaper children, care for children, charge families, and the list goes on.  We have signed contracts with each one of these entities and are subject to review by each one of them, all of which consist of different processes. 

As each of you may be aware, a representative may contact you and ask questions in regards to specific questions to ensure we as a provider are in fact following those procedures.  These entities, all have processes in which parents, staff, or any person regardless of their affiliation with the center, can report or communicate questions or concerns they may have in regards to a child care provider.  That information is made accessible to all parents and employees in both the Parent Handbook and the Employee Handbook.  ALCP believes in the intent of the processes of these entities to ensure accountability of child care providers across the state.  Families may be chosen specifically or at random to be communicated with by one of these agencies.  We understand, that this can cause alarm in a parent, and for that reason it has been important for us as a center to continue to communicate these processes to parents and staff to help deepen the understanding of how child care providers operate and are held accountable. 

ALCP believes that trust is the currency of the child care industry.  We do not take lightly our role in building that trust and doing all we can to keep that trust in tact.  Part of accomplishing this, is by continuing to improve.  One area that can always improve is communication.  Knowledge is empowering, and so understanding the why’s and how’s a center operates can be empowering to both parents and staff.  So, please know that even with the processes set forth with outside entities whose purposes are to support child care providers and protect families and children, we want to always encourage and create welcoming atmospheres for children, parents and staff to communicate any thoughts feelings or concerns.  For that reason we always want to encourage you to never hesitate to ask a question, or share a thought.
